Padstow

We took a long weekend in Padstow last week. We camped, and enjoyed some nice weather! Jay had a surfing lesson on the Saturday which he loved. We visitied Padstow, Wadebridge, Perranport, Newquay, Watergate Bay, Mawgan Porth... all lovely. It re-ignited our urge to move to the South-West. We've done nothing but make plans since we've been home.

Other pics can be found at Flickr

Taking 2 weeks off work had really given my mind a rest over the normal routine & white noise. I've been getting some creative vibes & business ideas have been flourishing in my mind. I think I've got 3 that we will take forward. Watch this space as they say!

Jay has been working on the garage since we got home. It's really coming along. It's actually viable for me to think about interiors & layout! Plaster! On the walls!!!

We're not a PC.

So 24 years too late, we finally got an iMac. It's beautiful. It's functional. It's entertaining. It's simple. It's meant to be.

Overnight in Derby...

A very, very last minute trip to Derby last weekend led us to the Ramada Encore, which was surprisingly modern. Also located on a newly built business estate with a view of Pride Park.

Vintage things...

We've been so busy lately this blog has been forgotten about! Jay has 12 days off work from today so expect some updates on the DIY front. We have had time for some car booting & have found some wonderful vintage things.

I actually picked this large throw up from a charity shop yesterday. I plan to re-hem the edges to remove that horrible dated frill & utilise the fabric in something wonderful. Only I'm not sure what, yet. :D

A lovely telephone table, at a car boot sale last weekend. Not much damage to it, but I plan to repaint it and recover the seat. Keiko has claimed it already. I may use if for cat sleeping to get them off the precious sofa! (excuse the porch, it's my dumping ground for freecycle stuff waiting to go and new plants)

A 1970's Etch-A-Sketch as a gift for my brother-in-law who has been lusting for one recently!

Picked up these trays for putting seedling pots on. I've ran out at home. The red is originally from Ikea, and the brown has a 1970's stamp on the bottom. Both for 60p at a car boot sale yesterday.

I'm going to turn this gorgeous vintage suitcase into a cat bed! When I get around to it, I'll be sure to post photos. :D

Our home.

We moved in to our home in September 2006. It has three bedrooms and was built in 1931. We were lucky to get it at our age, it was a good deal and we could see the potential despite buying from a VERY old couple. You can imagine the taste differences!

We have huge plans for the house overall but we realise it will take time to get things how we want. The house itself is a little dated, but slowly we have tried to make it our own on a real tight budget.

Louise is a dab hand at crafty things, and only last week she transformed our kitchen for the mere price of 2 tins of paint & new door knobs:

It's things like this that make us so happy to have our own place, a place where we can do whatever we want without the worry of a landlord. Of course the only downside to this is we want to do everything to it now! Or yesterday. We're that impatient. :)

Background info.

After years of using the internet we finally got round to doing something we always planned to do. Having been together for nearly 12 years we have lots of memories, some good, some bad, some uber cool, some extremely pointless, but one thing we regret is not starting this earlier. We hope to use this space to illustrate the lives of a 20 something couple in england, and we hope you enjoy checking back with us along the way.

So here's where we're at.

We are a mid-20's couple who have owned our home for 3 and a half years. The boy is called Jay, and the girl Louise. We live in a 3 bedroom semi-detached house in a residential suburb of Birmingham. We share our house with a whole bunch of little friends; our cats Poppy, Maddie, Milly, Leela, Keiko, and our hamsters, Dotty and Betty.

We met around July 1997. We were introduced partly by friends, but mainly thanks to a cat who, when Jay tried to show Louise, happened to climb up his tee shirt and cause complete embarrasment for all involved. On the 3rd August 1997, Jay finally plucked up the courage. And got someone else to ask Louise out for him. The rest as they say is history.

We married in September 2006 at the age of 23 and 21 respectively. We have never looked back.

If you take a walk around our house, its not hard to see the things we love, heres an extremely small snippet:

There are a million of pictures we could (and will) post here when we get a chance in our hectic lives.

Until then we hope this give you a small idea of who we are, and we look forward to sharing more with you.

Jay and Louise.
